Master Thesis Spring 2025
Structural Optimization using Local Stress Constraints: Improving Next-Generation Lattice-Based Hydrogen Storage Solutions
NITIU is developing novel technologies for lightweight load-bearing structures and is currently working with their industrial partners to develop a breakthrough storage systems for hydrogen utilizing their patented technology platform. Together with Uppsala University and Örebro University we present a Master Thesis opportunity for students enrolled at Uppsala University.
Utilizing Finite Element Analysis (FEA), this research involves modeling and optimizing for stress distributions across various geometries derived from NITIU's patented lattice structure.
The aim is to implement topology optimization incorporating localized stress constraints with the purpose of mitigating potential failure points within lattice-based structures for the next generation of hydrogen storage systems. The optimization will be implemented in code, leveraging programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or Rust.
We are looking for a masters student in Engineering Physics, Materials Science, Computational Physics, Computational Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Knowledge in Finite Element Analysis, Structural Mechanics and Programming is beneficial.
