Isotropic lightweight structure - ILS®
ILS® is simply a steel structure that is stronger than any other structure we know of – in all directions.
The combination of steel with extremely high tensile strength steel, a robust joining method and the isotropic design opens up a world of opportunities.
Hydrogen storage and transportation
Due to its low volumetric energy density, hydrogen requires either high pressure or low temperatures (below –253°C) to increase the energy density. Storage vessels have therefore been spherical or cylinder formed to ensure safe and efficient storage.
Up until now. The NITIU ILS® is a prismatic, lightweight, strong, rigid, completely recyclable and fully isotropic construction of high-strength steel. Being isotropic means that ILS® withstands forces from all directions – even from within.
What we work on right now

-
Shipping industry
The shipping industry needs to convert to renewable energy. One challenge for shipowners is to dare to convert their fleet when the hydrogen infrastructure is poor. This is an area that we are currently delving into.
-
Automotive industry
The Lightweight Agenda is about creating material combinations that are lighter, require less material, less energy, and at the same time produce lower greenhouse gas emissions than today's materials.

Industrial processes
This is a holistic approach to the production, storage and transport of hydrogen and includes process integration and the electric power system. Our part includes joining of materials.
